First furniture shop to open for Air Ambulance in Wellingborough
26 January 2012
The first furniture shop raising funds for Warwickshire &
Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) opens in Wellingborough this
Friday (27 January at 10.30am).
The shop is situated in Market Street in the former Disabled to
Able Store and is expecting a very special guest on the opening
day.
Emma Vithlani*, WNAA Director of Retail and Trading, said: "It's
very exciting to be opening our first furniture shop for WNAA in
Wellingborough. We have recruited a manager and assistant manager
and have also got some wonderful volunteers helping us get ready
for the big day.
"But we need more, so if anyone is interested in helping
volunteer for even a couple of hours each week they should pop into
the shop. If anyone wants to donate an item then please call 07432
844121. We will collect good quality furniture including soft
furnishings that comply to the latest flame retardant guidelines
and electrical goods too.
"We have huge support for our charity shops in general. Sales
wise our Daventry store in Northamptonshire consistently beats all
our others across Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire and I
am sure this new venture into furniture will prove as popular at
the opposite end of the county.
"Shoppers at our grand opening at 10.30am will also hopefully be
treated to a fly past from our WNAA helicopter."
*Emma Vithlani was runner-up in the Manager of the Year category
in the national Charity Shop Industry WOW awards in 2011 and heads
up the retail team for WNAA and sister service Derbyshire,
Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) There are
currently ten charity shops across both regions with more planned
to open in 2012.
