Dominic has worked in healthcare for his entire professional career both in a civilian and military role since leaving school. He qualified as a nurse in 1996 and has worked in many different settings in the National Health Service including the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary Accident and Emergency Flying Squad team that used to attend serious incidents around Derbyshire.
In 1998, Dom achieved a commission as an officer with the Royal Navy and last served in Iraq in 2003.
After leaving the military Dom joined the Warwickshire Ambulance Service as the Clinical Manager and has been working for various ambulance services since. His last post prior to joining the Charity was as the Regional Head of Clinical Services for West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Dom joined the Charity in October 2009 as the newly appointed Director of Operations and Clinical Services for WNAA and DLRAA. Both operationally and clinically Dom’s current role includes the service development of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) across the region, working in partnership with other agencies to ensure that our patients get the very best quality of care that the air ambulance personnel can provide.
Dominic said, “Our aim is to provide a world class Helicopter Emergency Medical Service. We are continuously advancing and improving the level of care for the people we serve. We continue to develop the boundaries of clinical care by using the most educated, best equipped staff that we can while introducing new practice and clinical roles in pre-hospital care.”
