THEY say charity starts at home but for Warwickshire Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA), charity has started at a home-builder thanks to a very generous donation from David Wilson South Midlands.
Staff working at the head offices of the Northampton-based housebuilder have raised £1,000 for the WNAA and a presentation was recently held where managing director, David Bell, was on hand to present the giant cheque to the company’s chosen charity.
He comments “From various fundraising activities held throughout our financial year of 2009/2010, we have managed to raise an impressive £1,000 for our charity of choice, the Warwickshire Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
“The WNAA is an extremely worthwhile charity that carries out life saving journeys all over our region and we feel it is a much deserving recipient of the money that we have raised.
“As a company, we have a history of supporting local organisations and I’d like to thank all the staff for their generosity throughout the year and I look forward to undertaking more fundraising activities during the year ahead.”
The WNAA was chosen following a staff vote and the £1,000 was raised from various fundraising activities that included weekly dress down Fridays whereby every member of staff who chose to take part had to donate £1.
Tracy Grunwell, Fundraising Manager for the WNAA said, "It's fantastic to see David Wilson Homes getting involved and helping to raise such a lot of money for this incredibly worthy cause. The air ambulance is a vital service in this area and we rely solely on voluntary contributions, this is why we need as much support as possible to help us keep the Air Ambulance flying. The support that we receive makes a huge difference, not just to us but to the lives of the people we save.”
David Wilson is currently building a number of new homes developments throughout Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Milton Keynes.
